| 2010 Mt Rainier OVERNIGHT
|
Of all the mountains that surround Seattle, Mount Rainier stands boldest. On clear days, you can see the mountain from downtown, but to grasp its full beauty, you must see it up close.
Breathtaking vistas await on this rocky peak more than 14,000 feet tall. Even when clouds in Seattle obscure the view from the city center, once you climb in altitude, Mount Rainier’s scenery is awe-inspiring. Don’t forget your camera - this 10-hour day trip is a feast for the eyes!
We begin with a scenic bus ride, stopping at a visitors’ center before we continue into Mount Rainier National Park. On our way to the BRAND NEW Paradise Visitors' Center, we’ll linger at several scenic lookout points and gaze at the natural wonders – crashing waterfalls, diverse plant life, and the snowcapped summit. Purchase lunch on your own either in the new Visitor Center, or in the newly renovated Historic Paradise Lodge restaurant. Your tour will include lodging overnight at the recently renovated Paradise Inn. The Paradise Inn was originally built in 1916 and houses 121 guest rooms, the Paradise Inn Dining Room, Tatoosh Café, and authentic Native American arts and crafts at the gift shop.
In 1919, Han Fraehnke, a German carpenter, added much of the decorative woodwork that he designed and built himself. A skilled craftsman, Han also built the lodge’s rustic piano and the 14 foot grandfather clock.
Step outside the historic Paradise Inn accommodations and be welcomed by the site of meadows in full bloom, miles of trails that lead to adventures in all directions and explore the outdoors the way it was meant to be, free from modern life stresses and distractions. Stand in awe of Nisqually Glacier and head out to the NEW Paradise visitor center for more information and displays of the areas rich history.
In the late afternoon the next day, we'll follow a different route back to Seattle, taking in even more great scenery. Name, date, and time changes are considered cancellations and are not available for Mt. Rainier tours within the time frame of our cancellation policies.
Please note: Gray Line of Seattle provides a high quality Sightseeing Tour to Mt. Rainier. In order to ensure the level of service we wish to offer, we regret that we are not able to carry passengers to the mountain for the purposes of a multi-day hiking expedition. Large backpacks and hiking gear will not be allowed on our vehicle.
Please note that if you are coming to Seattle via a Cruise Ship, please do not book this tour of your day of disembarkation as you will not be able to get off the ship in time to make the tour.
